Remove EXIF / Metadata

See what your photos reveal (location, camera, date) and strip it before you share them, losslessly, with no quality loss.

Drop JPG, PNG or WebP photos here or click to browse

This removes EXIF data (camera model, date and time, GPS location), XMP, IPTC / Photoshop data, comments, embedded thumbnails and any hidden data stored after the image, while leaving the actual picture bytes untouched, so there is no quality loss. It cannot remove anything visible in the photo itself, and it does not support HEIC or RAW files. Everything runs locally in your browser; your photos are never uploaded.

    About this tool

Remove EXIF strips the hidden information that photos carry with them. A picture from your phone can include the date and time, the device model and sometimes the GPS location where it was taken. Before you post a photo publicly or send it to someone you do not know, you may want that information gone.

The cleaning happens in your browser, so your photo is not uploaded.

    How to use it

    1. Choose the photo you want to clean.
    2. Run the removal and wait for the cleaned copy.
    3. Download the new image. This copy has the hidden details removed.
    4. Use the cleaned copy when you share the photo.

    Example

You want to sell a phone online and photograph it at home. Clean each photo before posting, so the listing does not carry the location where the pictures were taken.

    Tips

    • Keep your original. It is still useful to you for your own records.
    • Messaging apps and social networks often remove some of this data themselves, but not all do, so cleaning first is the safer choice.

    Questions people ask

    What is EXIF data?

It is information stored inside an image file, such as the time, the camera or phone model, the settings and sometimes the location.

Does removing it change how the picture looks?

No. Only the hidden details are removed. The picture itself looks the same.

Is my photo sent to a server?

No. It is cleaned in your browser.

How can I check it worked?

Look at the file details on your device. The camera and location fields should be empty on the cleaned copy.
