PDF to Word

Turn a PDF into an editable Word document. You see the page and the text side by side before you download. Everything happens in your browser, so your file is never uploaded.

Good to know: this brings over the text, with headings, paragraphs and bullet points. Fonts, tables and pictures do not carry over, and scanned (picture-only) pages cannot be read because there is no text in them.

Your file is processed on your own device, with your browser's memory. Fundpeeps never sees or stores it. Passwords are used in your browser only.

About this tool

PDF to Word pulls the text out of a PDF and puts it into an editable Word document, so you can correct, reuse or reformat it. It is meant for documents that contain real text, such as articles, letters and typed reports.

It works in your browser and your file is not uploaded. Expect a clean text document rather than a copy of the original page design. Complicated layouts, columns, tables and pictures may not carry over exactly as they looked in the PDF.

How to use it

  1. Choose the PDF you want to convert.
  2. Press the convert button and wait while the text is read from each page.
  3. Download the Word document.
  4. Open it, then fix headings, spacing and any lines that were split in an odd place.

Example

A friend sends you a typed 6-page report as a PDF and asks you to add a section. Convert it, open the Word file, add your section and save it as a new document, rather than retyping everything.

Tips

  • A scanned PDF is a picture of text, so there may be no text to extract. Those need text recognition (OCR), which this tool does not do.
  • Proofread the result. Always check numbers, names and special characters.

Questions people ask

Will the layout be identical to the PDF?

Not always. The tool focuses on getting the text out, so complex layouts may need tidying in Word.

Why is my converted document empty?

The PDF may be a scan made of images. With no real text inside, there is nothing for the tool to extract.

Is my PDF kept?

No. The conversion happens on your device.

Which Word format do I get?

A standard Word document that opens in Microsoft Word and in most other word processors.
