FIFA to Award First-Ever World Cup Winners’ Rings at 2026 Final
FIFA is set to make history by introducing World Cup Winners’ Rings for the first time, with the champions of Sunday’s 2026 FIFA World Cup final receiving the prestigious awards alongside the traditional trophy and gold medals.
The groundbreaking initiative marks a significant departure from football’s long-standing traditions, bringing a championship custom commonly associated with American sports to the world’s biggest football tournament.
The final, scheduled to take place at MetLife Stadium, will see Argentina face Spain in what promises to be a thrilling showdown. The ceremony will also be attended by U.S. President Donald Trump, who has been confirmed to participate in the trophy presentation alongside FIFA President Gianni Infantino.
According to FIFA, 30 custom-designed championship rings will be presented to members of the victorious team. Each ring will be uniquely crafted to reflect the identity of the champions and will form part of a limited edition of 2,026 individually numbered pieces, commemorating the 2026 FIFA World Cup. In addition, 1,996 replica rings will be made available for fans who wish to own a piece of football history.
The introduction of the rings reflects FIFA’s effort to blend football tradition with elements of North American sporting culture, where championship rings are widely recognized as symbols of sporting excellence.
Sunday’s final is expected to draw millions of viewers worldwide as football fans witness not only the crowning of a new world champion but also the beginning of a new tradition in FIFA history.
