El-Rufai Returns to Abuja Residence After Release by ICPC
Former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has returned to his Abuja residence following his release from the custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
According to reports, the former governor arrived at his residence shortly after regaining freedom from the anti-graft agency, where he had been held over ongoing investigations.
El-Rufai was received by family members and close associates upon arrival and has since begun receiving visitors, many of whom came to sympathize with him over the recent loss of his mother.
His release was said to be temporary, granted on compassionate grounds to enable him participate in the burial rites of his late mother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, who passed away in Cairo, Egypt.
The development comes amid an ongoing probe by the ICPC into alleged financial misappropriation during El-Rufai’s tenure as governor of Kaduna State between 2015 and 2023.
The situation continues to generate reactions across political and public circles, as many await further updates on the investigation and legal proceedings involving the former governor.
