Shockwaves are spreading across Nigeria after reports emerged of an alleged assassination attempt targeting two major political figures.
The incident has sparked outrage and renewed fears about rising political violence. There’s one chilling detail about the alleged attack that’s raising serious questions.
According to report, Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan , who represents Kogi Central, strongly condemned the reported attack on former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and former APC National Chairman John Odigie-Oyegun in Edo State.
In a statement shared on her official Instagram page on Wednesday, February 25, 2026 , the senator described the development as deeply troubling and incompatible with democratic values. She warned that politics must never descend into violence, intimidation, or threats against opponents.
Akpoti-Uduaghan also raised concerns about overzealous political actors who, in their quest to impress powerful leaders, allegedly resort to harassment or attacks on opposition figures. She stressed that such actions are dangerous and threaten Nigeria’s unity.
Reaffirming the constitutional rights of the opposition, the senator called on security agencies to carry out a thorough investigation and ensure accountability. She insisted that political differences must be resolved through dialogue and the ballot, not violence.
