social media user in Benue State remanded in prison for defaming lawmaker
Benue State social media user, Sunny Attah, popularly known as MOG, has been remanded in Kuje Correctional Centre following his arraignment at the Federal High Court in Abuja on charges including cyberstalking, defamation, and malicious falsehood against Benue House of Representatives Member, Philip Agbese.
Attah was arraigned Monday, on a four-count charge accusing him of publishing false and defamatory statements targeting the lawmaker.
The prosecution team was led by Victor Okoye, Esq., and another counsel representing the Cybercrime unit, while Deji Adeyanju and two others defended Attah.
Attah’s lawyers applied for bail, but the presiding judge, Justice Liman, adjourned judgment to Tuesday, and ordered that he be remanded in Kuje Correctional Centre pending the ruling.
