Password Generator

Create a strong, random password, an easy-to-remember one, or a PIN. It is made in your browser with your device's secure random generator, and nothing is sent anywhere.

Quick set:

Passwords are made with your browser's secure random number generator (Web Crypto). Nothing you generate is sent, logged or saved. Only your option choices are remembered on this device, never the passwords. Use a different password for every account, and keep them in a password manager.

About this tool

Password Generator creates strong, random passwords that are hard for other people or programs to guess. A good password is long, unpredictable and used on only one account.

Choose the length and the kinds of characters to include, create a password, and copy it into your password manager or the sign-up form. Create it on a device you trust.

How to use it

  1. Choose the length. Longer is stronger. 14 characters or more is a good habit.
  2. Choose which types of characters to include: capital letters, small letters, numbers and symbols.
  3. Generate the password.
  4. Copy it straight into your password manager or the account you are protecting.

Example

You are creating a new email account. Set the length to 16, include all character types and generate. The result looks like a string of random characters, which you save in your password manager and paste into the sign-up form.

Tips

  • Use a different password for every account. If one site is breached, the others stay safe.
  • A password manager remembers them for you so you do not have to.
  • Turn on two-step verification for important accounts such as email and banking.
  • Do not share your passwords, even with people you trust.

Questions people ask

Are the passwords really random?

They are generated on your device with your browser random-number tools.

Does Fundpeeps see my password?

No. It is created in your browser and not sent to us.

How long should my password be?

The longer the better. 14 to 16 characters or more is sensible for most accounts.

Should I write it down?

A password manager is safer. If you do write one down, keep it somewhere secure and private.
