The NYCN has called on young Nigerians to remain calm and exercise restraint ahead of a nationwide protest scheduled for 20 October 2025. In a statement, the youth body emphasised that while youth participation in governance is vital, demonstrations must remain peaceful, well-organised, and free from hooliganism.
The Council pointed out concerns over the planning and coordination of the protest, warning that lack of clear leadership and undefined protest routes raise the risk of disruption and violence. NYCN noted that previous unsupervised protests have resulted in unintended consequences for ordinary youth participants.
By issuing this advisory, the NYCN aims to protect the interests, safety, and reputation of young Nigerians who are mobilising for change. It also reinforces the organisation’s role as a channel of youth voices—supporting civic engagement while cautioning against scenarios that could undermine the broader goals of youth-led activism.
For the Fundpeeps community of innovators, students and young changemakers, the message is clear: leveraging collective action is important—but planning, clarity of purpose and personal safety matter just as much. As the protest date approaches, the hope remains that youth engagement will be strategic, constructive, and set the stage for meaningful reform.
