Troops under the Joint Task Force, Operation ENDURING PEACE, have uncovered a major bandits’ hideout at Rawaya Village, near Kazok in Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State, seizing a large cache of weapons and ammunition.
In a statement issued by Major Samson Nantip Zhakom, the Media Information Officer for the operation, the raid was carried out following credible intelligence reports that bandits were stockpiling arms in the area.
Although the main suspect escaped before the troops arrived, a detailed search of the location led to the recovery of two AK-47 rifles, one G3 rifle, one revolver pistol, four AK-47 magazines, three G3 magazines, 1,198 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, four rounds of 7.62mm (NATO) ammunition, three mobile phones, and other items.
The recovered arms and equipment have been secured for further investigation, while security forces intensify efforts to arrest the fugitive suspect and his collaborators.
Major Zhakom reaffirmed that Operation ENDURING PEACE remains committed to sustaining its offensive against criminal elements and maintaining security across its operational areas.
