Former France International and Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has suggested that many football fans would prefer not to seeArsenal F.C.lift the Premier League trophy this season.
With just seven games remaining, Arsenal currently hold a nine-point lead over defendingchampionsManchester City, puttingMikel Arteta’s side in a strong position to secure the title.
If the Gunners succeed, it would mark the club’s first Premier League triumph in 22 years.
However, Henry believes his former club may not enjoy widespread neutral support. Speaking on Monday Night Football, he explained that fans often prefer to see teams that have long struggled for success finally win the league.
He cited how many people supportedLiverpool F.C.during their title push in the past, partly because offigureslikeJamie CarragherandSteven Gerrard.
According to Henry, supporters frequently root for teams seen as underdogs or those who have repeatedly come close without winning.
“A lot of people don’t want Arsenal to win the league,” he said.
