Nigerian music superstar and philanthropist, Davido, has honoured the memory of his late mother, Dr. Veronica Imade Adeleke, with the launch of a new female student hostel at Clifford University, Abia State. The facility, named the Veronica Imade Adeleke Female Hostel, was unveiled during the university’s 6th Convocation Ceremony, where Davido also inspired students with words of motivation and purpose.

Speaking at the event, Davido described the project as a heartfelt tribute to his mother, who dedicated her life to education and humanitarian service. “My mother believed that education and compassion could change lives. This hostel continues her dream — turning love into legacy,” he said.

The star also used the opportunity to encourage graduates to pursue meaningful impact rather than fame or material success. According to him, “Talent might open the door, but purpose gives it meaning.”

In an equally generous act, popular businessman Cubana Chief Priest joined the moment by announcing a scholarship pledge for 50 female students, reinforcing the shared vision of promoting access to education for young women.

The Vice-Chancellor of Clifford University, Prof. Chimezie Omeonu, commended Davido for the initiative, noting that the gesture represents a strong example of youth-led philanthropy and community development. He added that the hostel would ease accommodation challenges while motivating students to give back to society.

For Fundpeeps, this gesture exemplifies how young Africans are redefining influence—moving beyond entertainment and fame to social impact and empowerment. Davido’s project is more than a structure; it’s a living legacy that invests in education, uplifts young women, and echoes the values of compassion, service, and continuity.

Through this act, Davido reminds the world that true success lies not just in achievements, but in how we use them to create opportunities for others.
