What are cookies
Cookies are small text files that your browser stores on your device. Sites use them to remember preferences or keep things working. Browsers also offer "local storage", which holds similar settings and stays on your device.
Cookies that keep the site working
Sign-in cookies. Our website platform (WordPress) sets cookies that keep you signed in to your account and protect your session. They are not used to track you across other sites.
Invitation cookie. If you arrive through a friend's invitation link, we save the invitation code in a cookie called fp_ref for up to 30 days, so the invitation is credited if you sign up. It is removed once it has been used.
Things saved in your browser
These are kept in your browser's local storage (or its cache), not in cookies, and are never sent to us:
- your light/dark choice (
fp-theme) and chosen language (fp-lang); - your Exam Prep progress and settings (
fp_exam_progress,fp_exam_cbt_session); - your Study Timer settings, session and statistics (
fp_timer_settings,fp_timer_session,fp_timer_stats); - the sender details you enter in the Invoice tool (
fp_invoice_sender_v1) and the issuer details in the Certificate tool (fp_certificate_issuer_v1), so you don't have to retype them; - a copy of the Remove Background AI model (
fp-bgr-models-v1), so it only downloads once. - for the length of your visit only (session storage, cleared when you close the tab): a copy of the tool list used by the tool search (
fp_cat_*). - if you install the app or save tools for offline use: anonymous copies of tool pages and their scripts and styles, in your browser's cache storage.
- for the length of your visit only: a flag that stops one visit to a page being counted twice (
fp_rv_*).
You can clear all of these in your browser's settings.
Cookies from partner services
Payments. When you pay, you are taken to Flutterwave's page, which sets its own cookies under its own policy.
WhatsApp. Our share buttons and Channel link are plain links. WhatsApp can set cookies only after you open its page or app, under its own policy.
Google sign-in. If you choose "Continue with Google", Google sets cookies while you sign in, under Google's policy.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use this site, including pages viewed, time spent, the general type of device and browser, and which site or search engine referred you. It uses cookies to collect this information, which Google processes in aggregate and pseudonymous form; it is not used to identify you personally. You can read Google's Privacy Policy or opt out with the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Advertising. We may show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other websites. Where the law requires it, we ask for your consent before these cookies are used, and you can change your choice later. See how Google uses data when you use its partners' sites, manage personalised ads in Google's ad settings, or opt out of some third-party advertising cookies at aboutads.info.
Course videos. Lessons that use YouTube or Vimeo load those services' players, which may set cookies or use similar technology when you play a video. We use YouTube's privacy-enhanced player and ask Vimeo not to track you, which limits this.
Code libraries. The networks that deliver the code our tools run on (cdnjs and jsDelivr) do not need cookies, but, like any website, they can see your IP address when your browser requests the files.
Managing cookies
Most browsers let you see, block or delete cookies in their settings. Blocking the sign-in cookies will stop you staying signed in.
Changes to this policy
If we add tools or services that use cookies, we will update this page.
