CGPA to Percentage Converter

Convert between CGPA and percentage, with support for the most common grading scales.

—

This calculation runs locally in your browser. Grading scales vary by institution — check your school's official conversion policy before using this for anything official; this tool is for a quick estimate.

About this tool

CGPA Converter turns your cumulative grade point average into a percentage, or into another GPA scale. Applications, scholarships and employers abroad often ask for your result in a format different from the one your school uses, for example a 5-point scale versus a 4-point scale.

The tool does the arithmetic quickly and shows the result, so you can check your figure before you fill in a form.

Remember that a conversion is only an approximation. Grading systems differ in how they treat first class, second class and pass marks, so one school 4.5 on a 5-point scale is not always the same as another school 4.5. Use the result as a guide for planning, and quote your original grade alongside it when you apply.

How to use it

  1. Enter your CGPA.
  2. Enter the maximum of your scale, for example 5.0 or 4.0 or 10.
  3. Choose what you want to convert to: a percentage or a different scale.
  4. Read the result, and write down which formula or scale was used.

Example

Your CGPA is 4.2 on a 5-point scale. Converting it to a percentage using a simple proportion gives 84 percent (4.2 divided by 5, times 100).

Tips

  • Different universities and countries have their own conversion rules. If an application gives an official formula, use that one.
  • Always say which scale your original CGPA was on.
