Tension is rising in Nigeria’s political space, and a fresh warning has landed on President Bola Tinubu ’s desk. A top opposition figure says silence at this moment could cost the nation dearly. There’s one line Olabode George said that sounds like a direct warning to Tinubu.
Wednesday, February 25, 2026 , The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Olabode George urged the president to urgently rein in FCT Minister Nyesom Wike , accusing him of intimidation and actions capable of weakening Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
Speaking on Arise News , George said Wike no longer belongs to the PDP, claiming he was expelled during the party’s Ibadan convention last November. He alleged the minister was abusing federal influence and security forces in Abuja and Rivers State while posing as a PDP faction leader.
George also criticized the presidency, Independent National Electoral Commission , and the judiciary for failing to curb what he called Wike’s “double role.” He cited a viral video from Saturday’s Abuja election showing Wike addressing All Progressives Congress supporters.
Warning of national and regional consequences, George reminded Tinubu that history judges leaders by what they allow, referencing Abubakar Tafawa Balewa.
