Aminu Tambuwal, a former governor of Sokoto state, Wednesday, March 11, dumped the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and defected to the ADC.

In a letter dated March 11, and addressed to his ward chairman in Tambuwal/Shinfiri, the senator who represents Sokoto south in the upper legislative chamber, cited the persistent internal crisis and ongoing conflicts in the PDP.

He announced that he would be pitching tent with the newly registered ADC.

Tambuwal also said his decision followed deep reflection and extensive consultations.

“The leadership disagreements and divisions within the party at various levels have made it increasingly difficult for me to continue my active participation and commitment as a member,” the letter read.

“The ongoing conflicts have, unfortunately, weakened the unity and direction that once defined the party.”

The ex-speaker of the house of representatives expressed gratitude to the PDP for the opportunity provided him to serve Nigeria in various capacities.

He stated that his decision was guided by his conviction that Nigeria requires a stronger political platform built on integrity, accountability, inclusiveness, and a clear commitment to national development.

The legislator reaffirmed his commitment to the service of Nigeria and to the ideals of democracy, justice, and national unity.
